"No Hour of Life is Wasted That is Spent in the Saddle" Winston Churchill

I hope you enjoy "Chuck Wagon Time" as much as I have enjoyed painting it for you. Each painting I do involves careful research for the creation of authentic western art. What a day and time back in "Chuck Wagon Time"!

Commission me to tell your story.

Whether the ranch hands are taking the cattle along the trail to market or out on the back range checking the herd, the Chuck Wagon Cook had a very important role.

He not only kept the cowboys fed, he was also the camp doctor and barber. He was whatever the cattle drive demanded. He led the drive; he would scout on before the herd, set up camp and have a hot meal ready at the end of the day. He helped keep the spirits of the cowboys high and their bodies nourished enough to begin each day

Life has changed from back in the day when the west was wild and cattle roamed the open range. A man's word and a handshake was the way of doing business. One of the main rewards of a Cowboy's Life was knowing that days spent in the saddle made him an honest living.

The tools of his trade were no more than a good horse, saddle and bridle, and good strong rope to catch an occasional stray that wouldn't stay with the herd.

He had the necessary equipment needed to protect him from the elements, his hat, chaps, and slicker to shield him from the weather or the occasional briar patch looking for that stray, but that wasn't what made him a cowboy.

It was the spirit in him that fought for what he believed in and a way of life that only a few were tough enough to live.

The true spirit of the cowboy that sometimes led a lonely life, leaving behind loved ones while out on the trail, but none the less had a mission to complete, a life to fulfill and still lives in all of us today. The life and Spirit of a Cowboy!

It is my passion in my art to capture that spirit and share it with all of you. That unbridled spirit of a cowboy or cowgirl that's hiding inside of you. The one that yearns for a day that seems to have gone away, but it hasn't, it is just waiting there to be rekindled like a campfire in the wind.

Let your imaginations reflect back in time to a simpler way of life. A life we still strive to live here on the ranch and a life I hope you will see in my artwork.
